Specialty Recycling & Acceptable Material

We strive to make recycling as hassle-free as possible by offering recycling trays and bins for our clients at no extra charge. Common free, recyclable materials include bottles and cans, paper products, natural plastics, cartons, foil, wire, and fiberous materials. These items are considered single stream recyclables, as they can be disposed of together in your curbside recycling tray. We also offer bulky item drop offs of mattresses, furniture, and construction demolition. Items that may require an extra fee for pickup or removal include:
  • Light bulbs
  • Bulky items
  • E-waste (computers and electronics)
  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Mattresses & box springs
Certain items are considered hazardous and must not be left in your trash bins due to the toxicity they produce when destroyed. These materials include household paint, medical waste, chemicals, and other toxic substances. For more information on how to safely dispose of these materials, please contact the La Crosse County Hazardous Materials Facility at (608) 785-9999
